Dublin District Camp Meeting – July 22-26
The Dublin District Camp Meeting is set for July 22-26, 2012.

Georgia Pastors’ School – July 23-26
Georgia Pastors' School provides inspiration, education, fellowship, fun and relaxation for North and South Georgia clergy and their families. Active and retired United Methodist clergy and their families are invited to experience this combination of continuing education and personal renewal. Held July 23-26 at Epworth By The Sea on St. Simons Island, the school follows a class schedule that provides an opportunity for fellowship and recreation. The school is structured so that clergy may receive up to two CEUs. More information on the school, including online registration and tuition payment, are available at www.georgiapastorsschool.org.

Clergy Sexual Ethics Workshop – Sept. 13
A Sexual Ethics Workshop is scheduled for Sept. 13 at St. Paul UMC in Columbus from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.  Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. This workshop is required every three years for persons serving under appointment by the Bishop (clergy, local pastors, extension ministers, appointed lay speakers). For more information, including cost, and to register, please email cpcassistant@sgaumc.com. This event is sponsored by the Conference Commission on Pastoral Counseling. Spouses and lay employees who are not appointed by the bishop are not eligible to attend the workshop.

Methodist Children’s Home Sunday – Sept. 16
Every local church in South Georgia is encouraged to receive a special Work Day Offering on Sunday, Sept. 16 to support the ministry of The Methodist Home for Children and Youth. Visit www.themethodisthome.org for more information.

Camp Tygart Camp Meeting – Sept.16-20
The 42nd Annual J.D. Tygart Valdosta District Camp Meeting is set for Sunday, Sept. 1 through Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012.  Preachers will be: Rev. Keith Goodlett (Sunday), Rev. Church Historian Workshop – Sept. 19-20
Your congregation has a story to tell!  Learn how to preserve it by attending the Church Historian Workshop, set for September 19-20 at Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island.  The workshop will include hands-on training for church historians or those who care about their church’s heritage. KidzQuest Children’s Retreat – Sept. 28-30
The South Georgia Conference’s annual children's retreat, KidzQuest, is set for Sept. 28-30.  Intended for third- through sixth-grade students, this is an exciting event students won't want to miss!  The cost for the event includes meals, lodging, program, and t-shirt. World Communion Day – Oct. 7
World Communion Day is Sunday, Oct. 7.  World Communion Sunday is one of the six churchwide Special Sundays of The United Methodist Church. World Communion Sunday provides scholarships for U.S. racial- and ethnic-minority students and international students, on both undergraduate and graduate levels.  Visit umcgiving.org for resources to help promote World Communion Day.

Bishop’s Hours

Bishop James R.
