Mrs. Sue H. Jordan

Sue Haire Jordan, 80, died peacefully Feb. 2, 2012 surrounded by her family who loved and cherished her dearly. A native of Undine Community in Evans County, Sue was born on Dec. 17, 1931, the fifth of six children born to the late Byron James and Sally Eason Haire. Sue married her beloved, Clyde Lee, on Sept. 16, 1950. They had four children, Kathy, Susan, Julie and Lisa. After teaching kindergarten for many years, Sue was employed by Canoochee Electric for 32 years and retired at age 70. Throughout her career, she enjoyed and cherished her relationships with co-workers and the many customers she was honored to serve. Sue was a woman of great faith who loved God and serving him wherever needed. She was a helpmate to her husband as he served as pastor to the Lumber City, Collins and Cobbtown United Methodist Churches. After his death in 1991, Sue returned to the Reidsville United Methodist Church and actively served in many capacities as long as her health allowed. Her church family was always in her heart, thoughts and prayers. Sue valued the friendships and encouragement she received from her church family at Reidsville UMC, as well as the faithful visits from her extended church families at First Baptist Church and Pittman Park United Methodist Church of Statesboro. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, the Reverend Clyde Lee Jordan; sisters Carolyn H. Waters and Nell H. Aldrich; brothers Wesley Haire and E.E. Haire; sister-in-law Marjorie Haire; brother-in-law, Herbert Jordan and Charlie Aldrich; and father and mother-in-law, Clyde C. and Mattie Lee Jones Jordan. Sue also loved her role as wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by four daughters, Kathy J. (Leslie) Kicklighter of Statesboro; Susan C. Jordan of Huntsville, Ala.; Julie J. Gordon of Beaufort, S.C.; and Lisa J. (Glenn) Davis of Statesboro; brother, Byron (Matha) Haire of Claxton; sister-in-law, Norma Jordan of Reidsville; and Lurlene Haire of Claxton; brother and sister-in-law, Winzell (Ray) Leck of Toledo, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Dr. Les (Anna) Kicklighter, Brian (Loven) Kicklighter, Tiffany G. (Ian) English, Ashley (Nikki) Kicklighter, Christopher (Ginger) Gordon, Shanna K. (Chad) Sexton, Brittany Sikes, Brooke D. (John David) Gifford and Will Davis; great-grandchildren, Allyson and John Kicklighter, Ryan, Bowen, Parker and Reece Kicklighter; Olivia Kicklighter; Timothy and Zoe English; Alex Thatcher, Jonathan, Haley, Carolina, Savannah Gordon and Taylor Bullard; 23 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews and cousins. A worship service celebrating Sue's life was held Sunday, Feb. 5, at Reidsville UMC.
