Holy Week was good here at Utmost United Methodist Church. The weather was beautiful, and the building and grounds were recently beautified. Our choir did wonders with the Easter music, wonderfully accompanied by local musicians.

The one tense occasion – actually tense mainly for those behind the scenes – was during Maundy Thursday Holy Communion. The attendance was good for the service. Our pastor, Rev. Mostly Wright, explained that we also provide gluten-free elements at a side station. However, as the people came forward the line moved rather slowly. Several people decided to form a second line at the gluten-free station. Not only did it confuse the process, but also it drained the supply of gluten-free elements.

Fortunately no one who actually required gluten-free elements was denied theirs. Nevertheless, our supply was exhausted. Tom Tedium complained, “Those gluten-free elements are very expensive. The folks who just couldn’t wait in line really cost the church unnecessarily. We need to make an announcement about the cost.”

Mr. I. C. Clearly said, “We just need to be clearer with our directions. It will send a negative message if we make an issue of this occurrence.”
